The Role of Dance Therapy

children balletDance therapy is a form of healing that is guided by emotions and released through movement exercises. Movement in a dance therapy setting is more than just exercise. The movements are a non-verbal language expressed through actions, fluidity, and movement. Children can often use movement to express their conscious and unconscious emotions. A trained observer can then assess their body language and develop interventions to address their specific needs.

Milestone Family Solutions is now offering Creative Movement Classes taught by Amanda Sainz. She has been active in the dance world for over 20 years. Her choreography has won national titles and continues to be recognized for innovation. Mrs. Sainz creates a safe environment for learning and growth through movement in her dance therapy sessions.

Amanda SainzAmanda Sainz is a former licensed educator for CCSD in Las Vegas, Nevada. She pioneered and developed a curriculum for the first dance education program at Desert Pines High School. Mrs. Sainz is a firm believer in the importance of the arts within the at risk community. Amanda founded Identity Dance Company that is built on her ‘Identify Through Dance’ Curriculum, with a primary focus on dance therapy.

Her experience within her profession has taught her that although technique and fundamentals are important for an educator to instill, it is even more valuable to instill the idea into every child that all dreams are possible. Mrs. Sainz’s passion for the arts and education inspired her first publication “Oh No Silly Goose” an inspirational children’s book. Corresponding with the children’s book she designed and manufactured plush toys as well as developed an educational game app.

Amanda Sainz is a relentless and determined individual whose life mission is to make a difference and she will rise to any challenge in order to successfully meet all expectations. To learn more check out her website Amanda Sainz – Art Enrichment.
