RAD’s Mother’s Day celebration hosted by Milestone Family Solutions (MFS) was a tremendous success. On Saturday, children ages 4 to 16 with Autism came together for a good time that included practicing their social and group skills in a fun supportive environment. Our family enrichment center was buzzing with excitement for this event which quickly amassed an enrollment of 23 children.
For a few hours, boys and girls participated in structured play time that included lively games, arts & crafts, and group activities such as making gifts for their moms. The staff of RAD and MFS kept the children engaged. They were allowed time to explore each of our unique activity rooms. In each room, they discovered plenty of toys to stimulate their senses and made new friends to help make this day special to them.
Mother’s Day fun included supervised jumping on the mini-trampoline, building and parading through an obstacle course, crawling through a tent tunnel, and a journey outside to make chalk drawings in front of our family enrichment center. The children had plenty to do. Our staff was on hand to insure activates were managed safely and responsibly.
Toward the middle of the day, the children visited the snack station where they chose from a selection of flavorful morsels and carried them around in their own zip lock bags. Everyone was very well-behaved and patiently waited their turn to pick the snacks they wanted to eat.
As the day came to an end, everyone gathered outside the family enrichment center. Colored chalk was brought out to begin creative time. The children were soon joined by the staff who made their own drawings on the walkway alongside the children.
MFS looks forward to strengthening our relationship with RAD and partnering with them on future events.
